Nasarawa Impeachment Saga: Al-Makura Meets President Jonathan

Embattled Nasarawa state governor, Tanko Al-Makura reportedly met with President Goodluck Jonathan, over the weekend at the Presidential villa, Abuja, over the impeachment moves against him by members of the state House of Assembly.
An anonymous presidential source who spoke to Punch said the impeachment issue was discussed at the meeting and President Jonathan pointed out to the governor that he had no hand in his travails.

Another source close to Gov. Al-Makura said the meeting was part of the governor’s efforts to save himself from the impending impeachment.
"His Excellency told us that he met with the President and that the man (Jonathan) told him that he had no hand in the impeachment move. Of course, the governor said he had no reason to doubt the President," the source said.
Meanwhile, it was gathered that attempts by the Assembly to direct the state Chief Judge, Justice Sulaiman Dikko, to set up a panel to investigative the allegations against Al-Makura had failed.
