Vice President Namadi Sambo has revealed that his party,
the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will reclaim Osun State
which he claimed was stolen by the All Progressives
Congress, APC "through the back door''.
Speaking yesterday in Abuja during the PDP National
Campaign Committee meeting for the August 9 Osun State
gubernatorial election.
The Vice President revealed the aim of the meeting was to
mobilise and strategise on the way to win the state back.
He said: "I want to assure you that the mandate that was
taken through the back door will come back to PDP, as it
was seen after the election in Ekiti State.
"The people will now have the chance to choose for
themselves, where they belong, which is the PDP,'' he said.
The Vice President added that the recent win in the June 21
Ekiti governorship election was great motivation for the
party heading into August.
He said: "We all know that Osun belong to PDP, those
people there now, never went through a successful
election''.
Mr. Sambo assured Osun citizens that President Jonathan
promise of peaceful, free and fair elections still hold no
matter who wins.
PDP Board of Trustees Chairman, Tony Anenih, and the
President's Aide on Political matters also also attended the
meeting.
PDP are hoping to remove governor Rauf Aregbesola , the
APC governor in Osun and put in their own man, Iyiola
Omisore.
