Australian Family Loses Relatives In BOTH Malaysia Airlines Tragedies

An Australian family has been affected by two recent

tragedies involving Malaysia Airlines planes, having lost

relatives in both of them.

In March, 2014 Boeing 777-200ER was on its way from

Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, when in two hours after the

departure the contact with the crew was lost . It was later

stated that 239 people were on board, with the son of Irene

and George Burrows, Rodney and his wife Mary, among

them, The Independent reports.

With numerous controversies surrounding the Boeing

disappearance, its location has not been identified. It was

said to have crashed in the Indian Ocean without any

passenger having survived.

While Irene and George were still mourning their son and

his spouse, they got hit with another piece of news:

yesterday a Malaysian plane with flight number MH17,

coming from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, was shot down

over Ukraine . All the 298 people reportedly died in the

accident, and Irene and George's step-granddaughter

Maree Rizk and her husband Albert were there. The couple

were returning from holiday in Europe, as a worse fate

befell the family.

The circumstances of the accident are currently under

investigation. The tragedy occurred in Donetsk area, located

on the Ukraine-Russia border, where in the recent months

the Ukranian military have been battling pro-Russian

separatists.

Both sides are pointing fingers at each other. Ukraine

President Petro Poroshenko called the action "the act of

terrorism", which is to be blamed on the Russian side. His

Russian colleague Vladimir Putin insisted that the accident is

in the field of Ukraine's responsibility, saying that if they

had agreed to a ceasefire, nothing would have happened.
